What is the N.I.E.S.C. Media Council?
The NIESC Media Council is a volunteer group of Media Specialists that represent their schools/corporations at meetings sponsored by NIESC. Their primary role is to provide guidance concerning materials placed in the NIESC Media Lending Library. This group meets approximately three times during each school year in order to review and select recommended materials. We also encourage Media Council members to present meeting agenda items that are of importance to the Media Specialists career field. NIESC personnel realize the critical role played by Media Specialist in Indiana's educational culture, and enjoy providing this forum for sharing and communication.
The only qualifications needed to be a part of the NIESC Media Council are:
- To be a Media Specialist or Media Aid at one of our member schools
- Be available to attend any or all three of the scheduled meetings
- Have a desire to provide input to the type of materials purchased for addition to the NIESC Media Library
- Support the principles of Best Practice Learning and collaborative practices and strategies between media specialists and teachers
At each meeting, NIESC provides refreshments. We use different facilities for each meeting to try to make travel time convenient for our member Media Specialists.
Contact Lisa Abell at NIESC for more information. We encourage you to attend. It is a wonderful, informative time!
Hope to see you at one of the meetings!!
